"Called the "Lightning 6," the 161 cid 75 hp flathead (L-head) 6-cylinder
was available. On L-161 the engine number was located on a boss on the upper
front of the passenger side of the engine block. Beginning engine number was
2S10001 and continued consecutively, regardless of model year."

following are its specifications. Used in the
MB,GPW,CJ2A,CJ3A and Early trucks and wagons. From
about 1947 until 1955, the slightly modified L-Head
was used in the Pickup and Wagons. It had a
different carburetor (Carter 626 1 barrel) and has
an inproved compression ratio*.
